Carl Jennings For In Memorium

Carl F. Jennings, II

MFHC Board of Trustees – Four Terms Founding Member of the Board of Trustees Carl F. Jennings II, 76, was born on May 2, 1947. Although he moved to other areas within New Jersey throughout his life, he peacefully gained his wings on March 31, 2024, in his beloved city of Long Branch. Carl graduated from Long Branch High School in 1966 and attended Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

In 1994, Carl began working for The City of Long Branch where he became The Director of Recreation and Human Services. Carl had many accomplishments during his tenure with the City of Long Branch and was a significant contributor to the community. One of Carl’s personal most impactful accomplishments was the annual “Get on the Bus” College Tour (1998-2019), where he encouraged high school students to apply and enroll in Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Carl often reminded students who participated in the College Tour that “Staying active physically and mentally was the key to a good life.” After his retirement in 2022, he continued to be active with the youth and citizens of Long Branch. This was truly his calling. Carl was also a member of Second Baptist Church of Long Branch, the NAACP, the Long Branch Housing Authority and a Charter Member of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Although Carl will be truly missed, his legacy will live in our hearts and minds. His impact on the City of Long Branch and all who loved him will forever remain.

Diana M. Tennant Santos

MFHC Board of Trustees – 2 Terms
Counties, most recently as a part of Fulfills Resources Connections team. It was here that she extended her passion in a meaningful and impactful way. By serving as a bilingual SNAP (food stamps) outreach coordinator, she ensured food got to the dinner table for those who were most in need. Furthermore, Diana tried to give back to her Latino heritage. She was an eminent leader in the Latino community having served as a past chairwoman of the Monmouth County Latino Festival and working with many non-profit social service organizations. Her beautiful soul and philanthropic heart extended beyond her work to every person she interacted with. Diana was a member of the Board of Directors at the Monmouth Family Health Center. Diana was always a great advocate for the poor and the disadvantaged and was always looking for ways the health center could help. March of 2020 would have been her last board meeting since she served a full six-year term. Diana was born on November 25th, 1968, in Neptune Township and grew up in Asbury Park and later moved to Wall Township to raise her loving family. Diana Marie TennantSantos, 51, of Bradley Beach, passed away on Monday, April 6th, 2020, in Neptune
New Jersey. The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Diana Marie Tennant Santos was kind, caring, supportive, positive and full of life! Diana passed away while working towards a degree in social work at Brookdale Community College. She had a

Greta V. Butler

MFHC Board of Trustees – Two Terms
She also served as a nursing instructor for the Monmouth County Vocational School District for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She was married to the late Harry S. Butler, Sr. for 35 years. Both she and her husband were members of Second Baptist Church in Long Branch for numerous decades. After retiring, she took a cruise around the world for three months visiting every Continent except Antarctica. Upon her return she became an avid volunteer serving at “Our House”, a medical day care for adults; as an instructor for volunteers at Monmouth Medical Center; as a tutor at “Project Class; as a member of the Juvenile Conference in Long Branch; an advisory board member of Monmouth Family Health Center; and organizer of RSVP Food Pantry in Long Branch. Greta was one of the founding Board members of the Monmouth Family Health Center. She served her full term of six years. She brought wisdom and humor to the meetings and even as her health was failing, she made every effort to attend. Greta passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015, in Long Branch, New Jersey. Greta Buttler graduated from Long Branch High School in 1946 and later graduated from Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She received her Bachelors and master’s degrees in Community Health with an emphasis in Public Health Nursing. Greta started her professional career at Monmouth Memorial Hospital as a Labor and Delivery Room Nurse as well as performing private duty, medical surgical and psychiatric nursing services.

John A. Brockriede

MFHC Board of Trustees – Two Terms
In 1998 Mr. Brockriede became a founding member of Monmouth Community Bank, Long Branch, where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, which later became Central Jersey Bank in 2010, where he remains on the Advisory Board of the bank today. Mr. Brockriede has served the City of Long Branch for many years on both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the Long Branch Sewer Authority. He is a Trustee of Monmouth Medical Center and the hospital’s Health Care Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Central Jersey Chapter, Shrewsbury. John serves as a Trustee of the VNA Central New Jersey Chapter, Red Bank. He was a member since 1974 and served as president from 2000-2002 of Deal Golf and Country Club. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed many good times at the golf club with his family and friends. He was the recipient of numerous community service awards from organizations such as, Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth University, Congregation Brothers of Israel, Long Branch Chamber of Commerce, and the Amerigo Vespucci Society. Mr. Brockriede was a long-time communicant and head of the building committee at St. Michael’s RC Church, Long Branch. John was a lifelong resident of Long Branch and dedicated his adult life to giving back to the city and the Community that gave so much to him in return. Founding Member of the Board of Trustees, John A. Brockriede, Sr. 77, of Long Branch, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Brockriede started in business at 19 years old by starting Johnny’s Esso on Third and Morris Avenue, Long Branch, which later became Johnny’s Exxon, which he operated for 32 years. In the early 1960’s John and his partners began purchasing and developing numerous apartment complexes in Long Branch.

Lawrence D. Kerrigan, Jr.

MFHC Board of Trustees – 2 Terms
Larry was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and he achieved the ranking of Eagle Scout. He successfully owned and operated his own business for over 20 years. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Kerrigan. He is survived by the love of his life and partner for many years, Lauren Nicosia; his father, Lawrence D. Kerrigan; his sisters, Linda (Jay) DeGroot and Pam (Jeff) Weber; his nieces and nephews, Matt Huff, Kristen Huff, Brian (Kana) Huff, Lindsay (Greg) Gotwald, Michelle (Drew) Loftus, and Christopher Weber; and his great nieces and nephews, Samantha and Ann Gotwald, and Fletcher and Oliver Huff. In addition, Larry is survived by many lifelong friends in both his business and personal life and by his very special canine companion, “Bear”. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence D. Kerrigan, Jr. of Belford, N.J. on July 4, 2016. He was the son of Lawrence D. Kerrigan, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Ann Kerrigan. Larry was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School and the University of Notre
Dame. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Monmouth University

Webster B. Trammell Jr

Chairman of the Board – Two Terms MFHC Board of Trustees – Four Terms Founding Member of the Board of Trustees

Dr. Trammell spent much of his professional career at Brookdale Community College starting in 1978 as the Director of  The Educational Opportunity Fund Program, Retiring in 2014 as the Vice President for Development, Community, & Governmental
Relations. Dr. Trammell strongly believed in service and was an active member of his community up until the time of his passing. Among Dr. Trammell’s affiliations were Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth University, GSAPP Alumni Association, Preferred Behavioral HealthCare, First Tee of Monmouth/Ocean, Two River Theater Company, and Beikoku Karate-Do Goyukai, where Dr. Trammell was a 9th degree blackbelt. Dr. Trammell was also one of the founding Board Members of the Monmouth Family Health Center for two terms. During his tenure, he served as Chairman of the Board. Dr. Trammell was passionate about many things such as golf, automobile restoration, gardening, and martial arts. In July of 2014, Dr. Trammell retired after 45 combined years of administrative service. Dr. Trammell passed away on June 3, 2022 in Long Branch, New Jersey.
